Overview

This two weeks trek though Sherpa-land offers an insight into their unique culture and lifestyle. The scenic trails wind through fragrant rhododendron and pine forests, Buddhist monasteries, and landscape varying from temperate to snowline regions. On the way, you may encounter the majestic Himalayan Thar or the resplendent Impeyan pheasant. Kalapatthar which the is the main highlight of this trek is the best viewpoint of the Everest region. Walk to the base camp can be interesting although there are no views of Mt. Everest. The descending trails involve nearly the same route down to Lukla.

Itinerary

Arrival at Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu, Nepal Meeting and assistance at the airport You will be welcomed with Khada (Tibetan silk scarf) or flower garland outside the arrival terminal gate by our representative. You will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Morning, half-day tour of old Kathmandu city, its Durbar square, myriad of temples including the temple residence of the Living Goddess, Kumari. Proceed on to Swoyambhunath Stupa. Swoyambhunath is a Buddhist Stupa said to be more than 2000 years old, is perched on a hillock 77 meters above the valley floor and offering a bird’s eye view of the Kathmandu City. Afternoon, a tour of Bhaktapur, the "City of Devotees" and the home of medieval art and architecture, a classic showcase of medieval Nepalese town life. Walk through the brick paved Palace Square overlooked by the Palace of the 55 windows with its imposing Golden Gate, The Pashupatinath Temple built as a replica of the original in Kathmandu overlooked by the finely carved Chyasalin Mandap in the center. Walk to the Nyatapole Temple the five storied Pagoda, the tallest temple in the country guarded by a series of mythical animals and deities overlooking the Bhairav temple dedicated to the Tantric deity of Bhairav. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Morning, transfer to the domestic airport and fly to Lukla. Trek to Phakding crossing the Tharo Koshi River on local-style suspension bridge. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Phakding.

Today, Commence trek to Namche Bazaar following the valley of the Dudh Koshi River via Jorsale. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Namche Bazar.

This is the day for acclimatization. Explore at Namche Bazaar or You can have a day excursion at Thame as well. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Namche Bazar.

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Thyangboche (3870m) weaves in and out of side valleys, making small ups and downs, to the teashops of Kenjoma, and joins the trail from Khumjung just before a collection of Mani stones. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Thyangboche.

Trek from Thyangboche till Dingboche via Pangboche, Somare. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Dingboche.

Today, trek to Lobuche. Almost straight trail until Dughla (Thokla) (4620m), moderately easy walk The sunset on Nuptse, seen from here, is a memorable sight. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Lobuche.

Follow the trail at the western side of the broad Khumbu valley and ascent gently through meadows beside the glacial moraine till Gorak Shep. Later, walk to Everest Base Camp. Return to this small settlement after the visit to the base camp. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Gorak Shep.

Early morning climb to the Kalapatthar, the best viewpoint of the Everest. Return to Gorak Shep and continue descends to Pheriche via Lobuche. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Pheriche.

It is a long way walk. After breakfast, retrace the steps back to Pheriche pass, Orshya, Somare, Pangboche, Debuche, Thyangboche, and Phunki Thanga till Khumjung Village. Overnight at the local lodge/tea house in Khumjung.

Ascent till Khunde to see the Hillary Hospital From here descent to Namche Bazaar and continue trek down to Monjo. Overnight at the local lodges/tea house in Monjo.

Today, retrace your route back to the transit village of Lukla. Overnight at the local lodges/tea house in Lukla.

Morning, after breakfast walk to Lukla airport and fly back to Kathmandu Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is free. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu.

The day is at leisure. (Buffer day)

Free till departure. Transfer to the airport to connect the international flight.
